Drawing sentimental objects ✏️
inspired by playing a video game
A few weeks ago, I got back from visiting NYC for a Tagalikha event, an organization I found and help run to create community spaces for Filipino creators. We hosted a panel in Brooklyn called Mahal or Mahal, where we talked about our passion and if it’s worth the cost. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me go on and on about it. And I’m not stopping because I’ll be writing about it soon :)
My creative practice seems to always flow like a rollercoaster. There will be moments where SO much is happening all at once, and all of a sudden it’s quiet. Even more so when I return to the very quiet ‘burbs of southern Nevada. In the down moments, I used to always think I was being unproductive, and that was a bad thing. But in my journey to untie my personal value to work, I’m really starting to enjoy the stillness and predictability. And in those moments, I noticed that I attach a lot of value to the objects around me. Seeing them helps me reconnect to where I am, what I care …
